Smart Spaces was started in the Spring of 2007 by Ursula Hegvik.  Ursula was a closet designer for California Closets in the Minneapolis area for 2 years prior to starting Smart Spaces.  At California Closets, she received very extensive training and the experience necessary to begin a closet business in the Fargo area. 

Ursula strives to make Smart Spaces a valuable company in the Fargo, Lakes and surrounding areas.  Honesty, integrity, and a focus on providing excellent customer service are the standards by which Smart Spaces does business.  Clients will appreciate getting not only the very best closet solutions, but reliable service during and after the new closet process.

Personal History

Ursula grew up in Detroit Lakes at Ironman Golf Course, which was owned and operated by her parents, Ford and Patricia Hermanson until 2001.  Hard work, integrity and entrepreneurism were instilled in her at a young age.  She went on to attend USC and MSUM and earned a degree in Organizational Communication.  She did her Masters work at Miami University in Ohio and then lived in Minneapolis for 2 years before moving back to the Fargo area.

While living in Minneapolis, Ursula was a designer for California Closets.  Grateful for this experience, Ursula has a passion for organization and designing custom closets and other spaces.  She enjoys living and working in the Fargo area and is an active member of the F-M Home Builders Association.

Ursula lives in Fargo with her husband, Shawn.  The couple's first baby was born September 29, 2008.  His name is Oliver.  He weighed 8 lbs, 8 oz at birth.  He's a happy and delightful boy.  And yes, this baby has a very organized closet!
